The Amazine Spider Man (2012) Movie Review

Release date: 29 June 2012
Rating : 3.75/5
Director : Marc Webb
Producer : Avi Arad, Matthew Tolmach,
Music Director : James Horner
Starring: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone

The Amazing Spiderman is a new start to the Spiderman franchise and Andrew Garfield has stepped into Tobey Maguire’s shoes. Marc Webb is the director of this movie and Emma Stone comes in as Gwenn Stacy. The film has been released in a big way across the world. Let us see how the movie is.
Story :
For Spiderman fans, the story is going to be very familiar as it is based largely on the tale which is well known to us, with a few modifications. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is a brillianthigh school senior who lives with his uncle and aunt. One day, he comes across a brief case belonging to his very talented father and discovers that his dad was a pioneer in the field of genetic engineering. He sets out to track down his father’s research partner Dr. Curt Conners (Rhys Ifans).
Dr. Connors runs a high tech lab where he experiments with cross species mutation in a bid to eliminate weaknesses from the human race. Parker chips in and helps him in his quest and they succeed. Meanwhile, Parker gets bitten by a genetically modified spider and he discovers that he now has superhuman powers. At the same time, Dr. Curt injects himself with a Lizard’s DNA as a human test subject of the experiment. Things begin to go horribly wrong from that moment on and Parker must now use his new found powers to stop Dr. Curtis from destroying the city of New York
Plus Points :
Andrew Garfield is very good as the new Spiderman. He has the boyish charm and the lanky frame to pull off the role of Peter Parker to perfection. He has performed very well in the action sequences of the movie. Emma Stone is good in the role of Gwenn Stacy. She comes in as Peter Parker’s girlfriend and they share good chemistry.
Rhys Ifans puts in a very convincing performance as Dr. Cur Conners.
The spectacular visual effects and the spellbinding action sequences are the lifeblood of the film. The film moves along at a fast pace and there is hardly any boring moment. Peter Parker’s struggle with himself has been captured very well. There are flashes of good humour in the film as well.
There is a good emotional backdrop to the whole movie, lending the plot a nice and credible motive. Kids as well as adults will connect with the plot.
Minus Points :
There will not be too much in terms of story for people who are already familiar with theSpiderman franchise. Some of the scenes will seem a little incredulous and you will have to leave logic behind to enjoy them.
The 3D effects, though good, are not spectacular like I hoped.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is spellbinding and the special effects are very good. The action sequences in particular have been choreographed very well and they are highly entertaining. James Horner’s background score is a major asset to the film.
Verdict :
The Amazing Spiderman is a far better film than the versions which came out before. Andrew Garfield is brilliant as Peter Parker and he definitely overshadows Tobey Maguire’s performance as Spiderman. Cool Special effects, good action sequences and fast pace make this movie a must watch. Go catch this film this weekend and have fun.

All The Best Telugu Movie Review

All The Best (2012)
Cast: JD Chakravarthy, Srikanth, Lucky Sharma, Raghu Babu,Chandra Mohan, Brahmanandam, Kota Srinivasa Rao
Direction: JD Chekravarthy
Music: Hema Chandra
Producer: J Sambasiva Rao
Banner: Sudha Cinema
Rating: 1.5/5

Story:
Ravi (Srikanth) is badly in need of money to bail out his father who was jailed in a cheating case. Ravi seeks the help of conman Chandu (Chakravarthy) and they both team up to pull off a heist. They have the task of selling a land to one billionaire and in turn they get 1 crore rupees. Numerous characters come in and unexpected events take place. How they overcome all the problems and succeed forms rest of the story.

Analysis:
All the Best is a rip off of Spanish film titled Nine Queens. JD Chakravarthy added a comedy track on Raghu Babu to it. This comedy track was copied from Hollywood comedy ‘Johnny English Reborn’. JD tried to bring in the Telugu nativity by setting it in Rajahmundry.

In spite of having a healthy plot and strong star cast, JD failed to make it an interesting fare. Comedy scenes didn’t come out well and the acting was pretty bad. Screenplay was another letdown which made this film a painful experience to sit through.

There is hardly anything worthy to watch it on silver screen. If you have seen Nine Queens already, then this would be disastrous at the best. Even if you aren’t aware of the original, poorly written screenplay and badly developed characters won’t impress you much. All the Best will end up as one of the bad films in recent times.

Performances:
Srikanth was fine, but somehow lacked the spirit. Uninspiring character must be the reason for it. JD Chakravarthy who is usually best in portraying negative roles, surprisingly failed as an actor this time. Raghu Babu’s gags may work for the lower class audience. Brahmanandam was wasted. There is nothing to mention about the other star cast including the leading lady.

Technicalities:
Dialogues were bad. Most of them were meaningless. Cinematography was poor. Editing was amateurish. Music was another major minus. Background score was unbearable. The film is made on a shoestring budget and that should be the only saving grace.

Chakravarthy fails as a director yet again. He should stop relying upon copied stories and should try out something original. He is not good at comedy and should concentrate upon making low budget thrillers. After Money money and More Money this is another disaster from him.

Final Word:
All the Best is targeted at mass audience. A better screenplay could have helped the film to impress the target audience. However, it is made on a low budget and that will play a major role in the end result. As a film All the Best is a huge disappointment.
